If you can help Philip is would be great. Vostro 3400, Win8 64-bit, Samsung 840 240GB SSD, i5 processor After another reboot, I was able to record my fingerprints and it works fine now. After a reboot, I was then able to install the Win8 compatible software in this article without a problem. I then ran that setup and it installed successfully. I set the compatibility on that file to Vista 64 SP2, just for kicks. I then browsed into the 'BIN' folder and the '圆4' folder within that. I set the compatibility on setup.exe to windows7 and tried to run it, no good, same error. I copied the install files off the CD to the hard drive (Setup.exe and the 'BIN' folder). I received a message saying it couldn't be installed because of compatibility issues. I tried to install the old version directly from the disk. Luckily, I found my old Dell grey recovery disks.
I verified it was the file from the 'My Downloads area'. Unfortunately the old one would not install, it gave me the '.this package can only be installed as an upgrade' message. I downloaded the file (64-bit) from the 'My Dell Downloads' area.
I tried installing the old Digital Persona software first as instructed.
